On this page we will go through show me tell me questions also called "Vehicle Safety Questions". This is a part of driving test. At the start driving examiner will ask two of these questions.
One tell me how to do something and one show me how to do something question.
Here we will explain show me tell me full answers, demonstration with one very common & popular car.
So lets get started.

Open the bonnet, identify where would check the engine oil level and tell me how you would check that engine has sufficient oil?
Answer
This is the tell me question. You don't have to do anything physically apart from opening the bonnet point the dipstick and explain the examiner what explained below.Took the dipstick out.
It will be covered in oil.
Wipe the oil.
Put it back in again.
Pull it back out.
And there will be oily mark on the dipstick in between the minimum and maximum level.

Tell me how you would check the engine coolant level and tell me how you would check that it has the correct level?
Answer
This is engine coolant.
If you check at its side level should be between minimum and maximum.
Nevel open it up when its hot. It could be pressurize and could be dangerous.

Tell me where the windscreen washer reservoir is and how you would check the windscreen washer level?
Answer
This is called windsreen washer and it is itentified by windscreen sign on its top.
When you open it up make sure it has enough water in there. As it hasn't got any maximum or minimum levels on it.

Identify where the brake fluid reservoir is and how you would check that you have a safe level of hydraulic brake fluid.
Answer
This is break fluid reservoir. It is often identified by little circle in the top in between brackets.
If you check at side fluid should be between maximum and minimum level.

Tell me how would check that the brakes are working before starting a journey?
Answer
This is a tell me question. You have to tell examiner that you will drive forward slowly, press the brakes the car should stop.
The brake pedals should feel firm not spongy or soft.

Tell me how you would check the tyre pressure and how you would know how much air to put into the tyre?
Answer
You can tell exaimer that tyre pressure could be check by air pressure guage.If you look at the picture below bottom left cornor. You can check all wheels of your car including spare.

Tell me how you can check the tyres to ensure that they have the sufficient tread depth and that their general condition is safe to use on the road.
Answer
You need to check central three quarters of the tyre to make sure its has no less than 1.6mm depth. You also make sure tyre is general condition is safe from top and sides. You should check all tyres including the spare.

Tell me how you would make sure that the head restraint is correctly adjusted?
Answer
The head restraint should be at the level of you ears and as close to your head as possible. If you do need to adjust it there is a little button at the base of head restraint. Press the button and raise it up.

Tell me how you would check the headlights & tail lights are working?
Answer
Tell the examiner to yo turn the ignition on, then turn the lights on.
Then you check the front lights are working.
And also the back lights are working as well.

Tell me how you would know if there was a problem with your anti-lock braking system (ABS)?
Answer
Tell the examiner when you turn the ignition on all the warning lights will turn on on dashboard.The one we looking for is ABS light, highlighted in yellow circle.
When you start the car it should go off. If it gone off mean it is not a problem.

Show me how would check that the brake lights are working on this car?
Answer
You have to ask the examiner to help you with this question.Turn on the ignition and press the foot brake.
Ask the examiner to have a look at back of car to make sure the brake lights are working.

Show me/explain how you can check that the power assisted steering is working before starting a journey?
Answer
As the power steering does not work unless the engine is on.Tell the examiner start the car and steer the car between left and right.
It should feel nice and easy to steer means works fine.
